“Anti-BAGITO”
hanggang katorse anyos palang .
Kaya
napagpasyahan naming ng aking mga kagrupo na gumawa ng isang report tungkol sa
pagtutol sa mga ganitong pangyayari
tinawatag naming itong Anti-BAGITO .
Ipinapakita
WHAT’S
HAPPENING IN TODAY’S YOUTH
A series of troubling health trends
concerning the youth have been confirmed by a recently-concluded study.
First, the incidence of teenage
childbirth has more than doubled over the past decade. That is, among girls
aged 15 to 19, whereas only 6.3% were already mothers in 2002, by 2012 around
13.6% were already mothers.
Second, premarital sex among the
youth is also on the rise: In 2002, only 23.2% of youth have engaged in
premarital sex, but in 2013 this has increased to 32% (amounting to about 6.2
million youth).
Third, while both teenage males and
females have become more likely to engage in premarital sex, the gap between
the sexes has declined over the past decade.
And fourth, a whopping 78% of first
instances of premarital sex were unprotected (not only against unwanted
pregnancy but also sexually transmitted diseases). Surprisingly, girls were
more likely to not use any form of protection during their first sexual
encounters.
As one of the youths living in this
world, we are disappointed about what Jose Rizal concluded; “Ang kabataan ang
pagasa ng bayan.” How can be the youths will give hope for the world? How can
be the youths will help to improve everybody’s life? A lot of questions are coming
from everyone’s minds, that maybe Rizal was wrong.
MAIN
ARTICLE:
One in ten young Filipino women age
15-19 has begun childbearing: 8 percent are already mothers and another 2
percent are pregnant with their first child according to the results of the
2013 National Demographic and Health Survey. Among young adult women age 20 to
24, 43 percent are already mothers and 4 percent are pregnant with their first
child.
Early pregnancy and motherhood varies
by education, wealth quintile, and region. It is more common among young adult
women age 15 to 24 with less education than among those with higher education
(44 percent for women with elementary education versus 21 percent for women
with college education). Early childbearing is also more common in Caraga (38
percent) and Cagayan Valley (37 percent) than other regions. The proportion of
young adult women who have begun childbearing is higher among those classified
as belonging to poor households than those in wealthier households (37 percent
for young women in the lowest wealth quintile versus 13 percent for women in
the highest wealth quintile).
The survey also reveals that one in
five young adult Filipino women age 18 to 24 years had initiated their sexual
activity before age 18. Some of them would have had their first intimate sexual
act before marriage. The survey reveals that 15 percent of young adult women
age 20 to 24 had their first marriage or began living with their first spouse
or partner by age 18. This proportion is lower than the proportion (19 percent)
earlier cited regarding initiation by young women of an intimate sexual
activity. Age at first marriage hardly changed over the years. A slightly
higher proportion (17 percent) of older cohort of women (age group 40-49) had
their first marriage at age 18.
Initiation of sexual activity before
age 18 is more common among young adult women with less education and those in
poorer households. Over 40 percent of young adult women with some elementary
education, compared with only 7 percent of those with college education,
reported having their first intimate sexual act at age 18 (Table 2). Similarly,
36 percent of young adult women in the lowest wealth quintile, compared with
only 10 percent of those in the highest wealth quintile, had their first
intimate sexual act before age 18. Across regions, the proportion ranges from
11 percent in Cordillera Administrative Region to 27 percent in Davao. The
proportion of young adult women reporting first intimate sexual act before age
18 is 22 percent for rural areas and 17 percent for urban areas. Among young
women age 15 to 24, 2 percent reported initiating their sexual activity before
turning 15.

What we
feel:
Our topic is about teen pregnancy in
the world, especially in the Philippines about how it affects teens who still
go in school. There are a lot of teens now a day’s especially who get pregnant
at a young age. Teens get pregnant before they hit 19 years old. As years pass
less teens are getting pregnant, the rate for girls ages 15-19 dropped to 29.4
births per 1,000 last year from 31.3 per 1,000 in 2011. A lot of teens try to
prevent pregnancy but with the pressure of their partner they fall into it and
have unprotected sex.
We are personally interested in this
topic because teenage pregnancy has always been a big issue, for us it is very
easy to do this topic because we know someone who is experiencing early teenage
pregnancy. We think it would be the perfect topic because we can personally
relate to this topic and we can also learn a lot of new information about this
topic.
We found a lot of new information
about the topic , in some ways reading new information made us feel sad and
disappointed because of all the effects a teen mom can have, like a lot of
teens not being able to finish school and graduate because of the baby, we
found out all the effects that the baby itself can have due to the fact that
her mother is a young mother, the baby can live a poor life if the mother is a
single mother, the kid himself can go through the same being a teen mother or
teen father, sons of mothers can most likely end up in prison, having a baby at
a young age won’t make him stay , it won’t make your relationship better , it
has been proven that 8 out of 10 mothers don't marry the father of their child,
having a kid at a young age can mess up your teen years a lot, by not being
able to enjoy your teens years and by not finishing high school. Some teens are
being treated unfairly, some teens don't get all the help they need or all the
support they need. Some teens don't get financial support from the fathers
child or from their family , teens get harassed a lot, guys disrespect them in
inappropriate ways, insult them sexually . We know because this was happening
to everyone, guys says things that are very insulting and we don't think it is
fair how women don't get treated fairly in respect just because they are
pregnant at a young age, people make mistakes and things happen, that doesn't
mean someone has to point out and insult them by what they know exactly what
they have done. People don't know the story behind why it happen , they don't
know what they go through so we don't think it’s fair that there are actually
people out there who do this to pregnant teens and also to pregnant women, that
is just not right and it really disrespectful .
People
should care About this topic " Teenage Pregnancy" because we think
that it is very important for people to know how hard it is to go through a
pregnancy at a young age and to know all the effects and good things about
being pregnant at a young age , which most likely there is not any good things.
It is important because we think people should try to help and support teens
who are pregnant not economically but mentally be there for them, it is also
important because people should know all the consequences of getting pregnant
also to let them know about how they can be safe and to always be safe at all times
when being sexually active.

So far, this is one of the most informative posts I've read...My one criticisms would be that you guys should have made your citations shorter and made it the stars of the first part of your post...Nevertheless, the analysis and poem hits the target regarding the issues our country faces today...It would also good to note that there are also success stories in teen pregnacies for at the end of the day, accidents can be blessings also sometimes...is it not?
ReplyDeleteNice format of presentation and good inputs...
